Margaret graduated from London University with a joint Honours Degree in Music and German. After spending four years in Salzburg, Austria, she returned to England to work as a teacher of Music and German. Living in Leeds, she developed her career as a freelance pianist and accompanist, working especially with solo singers and instrumentalists as well as choirs and operatic societies. She also branched out into Musical Directing for several musical plays and conducting a small choir.
This was followed by 2 years in Holland where she expanded her linguistic abilities, teaching piano and flute in English, German and Dutch, directing a multi-national choir and working with a Dutch clarinettist. Returning to live in the Chester area, she is now established as a teacher, choral director and accompanist. She has worked with different choirs and soloists, as well as teaching privately from beginners to diploma level.
In addition to working with Kelsborrow Choir, Margaret teaches music at The Queen’s Lower School, where she directs an award-winning Junior Choir – Queens Young Voices, competing at national level, as well as performing locally for charity and school events. She conducts the Vale Royal Singers, and is involved at Sir John Deane’s College helping music students to develop and rehearse their A-level repertoire,
