Music has always played a large part in John’s life, from an early age he sang in the church choir and learned to play the piano.  After taking his Grade 8 piano exam, he began learning to play the organ, gaining a licentiate diploma.  John has also played the cornet with a brass band.

Having always maintained his interest in choirs, both singing and directing, and is thrilled to have directed a complete performance of Handel’s ‘Messiah’.  John had singing lessons for ten years and has sung the tenor solos in several performances of ‘The Crucifixion’ and ‘Olivet to Calvary’.

In 2000, John composed an Easter musical – ‘Pictures of the Passion’.  He revels in arranging music both for organ and voice, and he looks forward to using this skill for the Choir.

Well-known for giving organ concerts, John aims to play music people enjoy, including light classics, ragtime, songs and music from ‘the shows’, as well as popular classics from the organ repertoire.

John is very excited to be leading the Kelsborrow Choir and hopes that he can continue to develop the friendly atmosphere and encourage others to come and sing with the choir.
