The Kelsborrow Choir takes its name from Kelsborrow Hill, a feature of the village of Kelsall near Chester in the county of Cheshire where the choir was founded in 1956 by a group of parents from the local primary school to support PTA activities and fund-raising. In 2006 the Choir celebrated its 50th Anniversary rapidly outgrowing its original purpose, the 58-strong mixed voice Choir is now firmly established on the Chester musical scene and performs regularly, both locally and internationally. Members are drawn from throughout the surrounding area. A registered charity, the Kelsborrow Choir gives concerts in support of local and national charities. Their repertoire is extensive: from oratorio – Messiah, Vivaldi Gloria and FaurĂ©\’s Requiem – to opera, light opera, spirituals, musicals and folk song, performing music by composers ranging over the centuries through Orlando di Lasso, Thomas Morley, Dvorak, Peter Maxwell Davies, Karl Jenkins, Andrew Lloyd Webber, Burt Bacarach and Josh Groban.
